Added "Currently Listening To" Widget.
Calls the last.fm API w JSONP (at some point I'll put the technical stuff in /projects but honestly I don't really know how it works). It grabs whatever song I'm either currently listening to or was previously listening to (the words change accordingly) and displays it. It also links to the song's last.fm page. I was using somebody else's API but it didn't work on neocities because of their content safety stuff so I had to write my own calls so I could use JSONP. I'm rather proud of it, honestly.

New chatroom and album features
Go check out the chatroom I spent a lot of time on the CSS and also go see what I said about Ween's The Mollusk and also Jim Guthrie's Now, More Than Ever yaay. Also I applied to be an arborist groundsman and I hope that I get the job cuz I love arborism and I think it would be cool... Job market sucks though. Love you guys (the 2 people that have ever read these updates) mwah mwah. Oh also I added copyright info which isnt really important but its there now I guess...

More style changes
Nothing big really this time. Just cleaning up the style sheet a little bit and making margins and padding more consistent across the whole site. Things might look a little nicer now? I don't really think it's noticeable though.

Style changes
Header and navbar have been changed. Nothing major just dropped the archivo font on the pseudo-file-path and the buttons on the navbar to make both of them mesh a little better with the rest of the website. Less is more and I think simplifying both elements makes the whole page just a little more cohesive. Also album review for Innerworld by Electric Youth is out now so check that out

New reviews and info on current internet absence
Reviews are up now for Charm, MHTRTC and TGABS. Sorry that nothing has happened for a while, I just finished a HUGE move (OR -> RI) and I'm still getting settled at my new place. Expect new things coming soon though! A cartography project is in the work and I'm still working on how to approach it, so we'll see how that goes. I'm currently completely off Instagram/Threads/Fedi and mostly off Discord, mostly because I need to lock in for a little bit and get some shit in order and I think that having social expectations from needing to read messages and such has been putting a lot of weight on me. I'm just hoping to disconnect a little bit and focus on my IRL well being (and maybe get a job lol...).

Filling out site details
Projects page is mostly up and running, though most of it is still missing any actual content. Misc page has a funny picture of a cat. U can switch to using light mode if you want but the button is kinda annoying and i was tearing my fucking hair out trying to figure out how to HTML/CSS a toggle switch so its just a press button still sorry.

Uploading site!
New website changes have been pushed live! A few things are missing, though. Gonna try to get the projects page working tonight and maybe the blog/misc page if i get around to it :3 I also might add one or two album reviews, maybe something on the new Joey Valence or something more shoegaze-y... we'll see.

Filling out new site layout
Still much to do. As of writing this I have 3/7 main pages built (plus an extra). The index page (obviously) works, as well as the updates page on its own (the bonus page). The site map and music review pages are also now functional but the projects, blog, misc, and webrings nav page are all completely missing right now. Still super proud of the progress tho :)

Major visual overhaul, minor content changes
Changed a bunch of shit. Real ones remember the old look(s). I know I said this last time too but it's a lot more professional now and whatnot. I'm also focusing a lot on like user experience (hopefully) so I think the site will be a little better to navigate now (consolidating some stuff and adding a site map). Also, like every time, making it a lot more versatile. And the SSG that I'm using is now 100% bash (except for the neocities stuff which is in ruby). Which also means, aside from the neocities stuff, that its 100% my own code. No more using somebody else's JS modules or anything.. its my own stuff, which I'm proud of. Also 90% of the info in the previous post is completely irrelevant now cuz I redid this page AGAIN lol.

Overhauled journal/updates page
ok i just completely redid a bunch of shit on here. this page now builds from a txt file thats formatted like 'ISO-DATE ENTRY' with each entry separated by a newline which really makes it a lot easier to add new entries. also cleans stuff up a little :) im happy with the change. i also changed some other backend stuff that just makes my life a little easier, theres now a text file that controls what pages to build instead of it being hardcoded into a few different scripts so now all the scripts r 100% doing the right thing cuz they all reference the same list. i also removed this huge annoying case statement i had that controls the bold letters on the nav bar. im thinking im gonna build a similar system for the albums page to simplify adding new entries but aahhh maybe ill do that some other time. i really wish i had a way where like i could write entries on the fly by maybe accessing like some hidden admin panel (like transatlanticism.neocities.org/admin) and put in a password n be able to make journal entries and album posts from some sort of page, that would be real nice i think. maybe i can still implement something like that but neocities kinda limits me.

i got distracted. the blog page is still unfinished but the quotes page now uses a bag shuffle which should make the quotes feel slightly more interesting because now you're almost guaranteed to see all the quotes before they start to repeat. should make things feel nicer i imagine

Created an SSG
ftr ive now built a fucked up combination of bash and nodeJS that automatically builds this website from a template and then pushes it online. theres some horrible stuff going on behind-the-scenes that would DISGUST a competent programmer. anyways i added a new album review (well a few since last time :p) so go look at that if u read this. i want to add a blog (might do that rn) to compile some of my longer-form thoughts into a nice place. yeah i think ill do that rn (probably gonna replace the writing page and move all that stuff over to the new projects page)

Complete visual overhaul
awawaaa new website look!! no more of that old black and white, we got some real colour going on now!!!!!!!!!!! fuck yeah. the albums section has also recieved a once-over to make it more presentable n shit.. but im really liking the colour and the new fonts and stuff and i think it looks a lot more professional. also gonna stop using hr element so much idk whats wrong with me i used that shit way too often lol

redid my website. nav bar on the top now and the web-ring and background stuff has been moved to the index page instead of being a sidebar. i like how it looks more now and its slightly more navigable i think

Added a templating system
just spent like an annoying amount of time turning this website from just being like 7 or whatever different pages to being a template and content pages and then using js to rebuild the website so i can use templating n stuff on the header and nav bar. took me a while and idk what im doing but in theory it should save me time in the future. i hope. whatever i guesssssssssss

i been slacking sorry. man i love the strokes. one of my friends got me to listen to The New Abnormal and like really sit down and listen for the first time and oh my gosh its so good. maybe not quite Is This It levels of good, but its forsure up there.

Added a customizable background color
just returned from an absolutely grueling road trip uggh. i mean it wasnt that bad i just went like 4 hours north and then came back but the roads were shitty and omw back i had a pretty bad headache (still do) and was kinda sleepy (did not get my eight hours the night previous). im back home though which means i could do more work on my website which is nice. i just finished the background buttons. probably the hardest thing ive done in JS so far (i havent done much in JS) cuz i had to generate random colour values and then also it uses cookies. uhh anyways thats that i guess. road trip was fun, i saw some old friends. passed by my ex's house and also my childhood home(s) which was kinda a cool throwback. signing off for now, bye!
